5 Questions for the Artist:
1. What is art to you?
“For me art is a way to be creative and express myself. I like how it can provoke all kinds of emotion sometimes with only a few brushstrokes.”
2. What did you make in the past, and why?
“During my bachelor studies I mainly focused on making picture books. It especially interested me to make picture books with no or as less words as possible, so the pictures could tell the stories alone and different viewers sometimes could see different things.”
3. What are you making now, and why?
“In 2014 I started to make little gif animations out of my drawings as movement can really add atmosphere to the pictures and I’d really like to get better at it. At the moment I’m also trying to focus more on editorial work. It’s kind of interesting to illustrate matter-of-factly articles with atmospheric pictures. I still like to concern myself with picture books though.”
4. What are your hopes for the future?
“I hope to be able to fully make a living out of illustrating. Also it’s a secret dream of mine to be able to draw backgrounds for an animated cartoon or a video game.”
(5. Do you want to add anything?-no)
