5 Questions for the Artist:

1. What is photography to you?

Photography is an attempt to show another person what you see. As an art, it is an attempt to convey the same image, emotions, and feelings to another.

2. What did you make in the past, and why?

Lyme Warrior is a new company but in the first 4 months we have taken on a lot. We started a line of awareness products, launched a campaign to promote change in the Lyme community, and created 23 boxes filled with gifts for children battling Lyme Disease.

3. What are you making now, and why?

Currently, we are making Chronic Beauty, a calendar featuring real women who battle chronic illnesses. Through these images we want to show these women’s beauty without erasing the physical symptoms their illnesses have created on their bodies. We view these differences as signs of strength and beauty because they show these women’s journey and what they have overcome. Each woman views her physical symptoms differently, but they are all Chronic Beauty.

4. What are your hopes for the future?

Our hopes are to raise money for research for these conditions to end these illnesses for these women and women in the future. We also want to bring women’s stories out of the dark so that each woman facing illness can be empowered and remove the stigmas of chronic illness.

5. What else would you like to say?

Please take the time to reach out and show compassion to someone fighting for their health. Most illnesses are isolating and compassion can be life changing for that person suffering.

Organization Supplied Background:

Lauren Lovejoy created Lyme Warrior as an organization to fight back against the issues facing Lyme Disease patients. After falling chronically ill with Lyme and living for a year undiagnosed, she is fighting to bring awareness to the medical community and world about the growing numbers of Lyme Disease cases and huge amount of inaccurate data surrounding the disease while fighting to recover herself.
